Auditor’s Certification Program
Building Confidence. Strengthening City Leadership.
In 2017, a new state law (NDCC 40-16-03.18) established a training requirement for city auditors. Under this law, city auditors must complete a certification program within one year of assuming office. The North Dakota League of Cities developed this program to ensure city auditors have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to effectively serve their communities.
About the Program
The Auditor’s Certification Program is delivered through Lessonly/Seismic, a flexible, web-based learning platform that allows participants to complete courses on their own schedule.
The program includes multiple interactive courses featuring lessons, quizzes, and reference materials. Each course requires a minimum passing score of 75%, and upon completion, learners receive a certificate of completion for their records. Courses can be completed at your own pace but must be finished within one year.
Learners retain access to completed course materials for ongoing reference and continued learning.
Completion of the Auditor’s Certification Program is worth six Leadership Training Program (LTP) credits. Participants must register for LTP before completing the certification to receive credit.
