Bismarck, N.D. — September 22, 2025 — The City of Casselton has been honored as the 2025 City of the Year by the North Dakota League of Cities (NDLC) at its Annual Conference in Bismarck. Home to nearly 2,500 residents, Casselton was recognized for its strong community spirit, youth engagement, and forward-looking projects. From students painting snow plows and serving on the city council to hosting community planning sessions, Casselton is ensuring every generation has a voice in shaping the city’s future.

Recent highlights include becoming the home of the Grand Farm AgTech Hub, a nationally recognized innovation center for agriculture, and launching a new senior dining program that helps reconnect residents and build intergenerational ties.

“Casselton is showing what happens when a city blends innovation, tradition, and community pride,” said Matt Gardner, Executive Director of NDLC.

Accepting the award on behalf of the city were Mayor Mike Faught, City Auditor Sheila Klevgard, and Public Works Supervisor Will Lipp.

The City of the Year Award was presented during the NDLC’s 2025 Annual Conference, held September 17–19 at the Bismarck Event Center.
