Yearly – Cities with less than $2 million dollars of annual receipts, excluding any funds passed through the political subdivision to another entity, in lieu of a financial audit can submit an annual financial report to the ND Office of the State Auditor. Every Two Years – Cities with more than $2 million in annual receipts, excluding any federal funds passed through the political subdivision to another entity, must have an audit performed by the ND Office of the State Auditor or by a certified public accountant or a licensed public accountant. Monthly – City auditor submits to the governing body of the city a monthly financial statement showing revenues, expenditures, transfers, and fund balances. (NDCC 40-16-04)
